ِسْمِ ٱللّٰهِ ٱلرَّحْمٰنِ ٱلرَّحِيمِ
Eidul Adha is approaching soon and I would like know the method of Zabah, Which Qurbani should be made first if one is also making Nafl Qurbani?
Zabah is the act of slaughtering an animal, Muslims need to know the basics rules concerning Zabah in order for the Zabeehah (animal slaughtered) to be Halaal for consumption.
An animal should be accorded respect during the procedure of Zabah, it must not be taunted or shown the knife by which Zabah will be made. It is the practice of Muslims to adorn the animal for Qurbani with a garland of flowers, this is permissible but is not from the Mustahabbaat (preferable actions) of Zabah. It is Mustahab (preferable) to sharpen the knife before laying the animal down for Zabah, to do so in front of the animal is Makrooh. It is Sunnah to place the animal facing the direction of the Qiblah.
The wind pipe, food tract and two jugular veins of the animal must be cut in Zabah. If at least three of these are cut, the animal will be Halaal. While slaughtering the animal, Bismillah Allahu Akbar must be read by every Muslim who is holding the knife. A non-Muslim cannot hold the knife while slaughtering, otherwise the animal will not be Halaal.
If a Muslim intentionally forsakes saying Bismillah, the animal will not be Halaal, however if a Muslim unintentionally forgets to say Bismillah, the animal will be Halaal. To recite Takbeer-e-Tashreeq before or after Zabah is permissible but Bismillah is to be read at the actual time of slaughter.
The following should be said before Zabah,
إِنِّي وَجَّهْتُ وَجْهِيَ لِلَّذِي فَطَرَ السَّمَاوَاتِ وَالْأَرْضَ حَنِيفًا ۖ وَمَا أَنَا مِنَ الْمُشْرِكِينَ قُلْ إِنَّ صَلَاتِي وَنُسُكِي وَمَحْيَايَ وَمَمَاتِي لِلَّـهِ رَبِّ الْعَالَمِينَ لَا شَرِيكَ لَهُ ۖ وَبِذَٰلِكَ أُمِرْتُ وَأَنَا أَوَّلُ الْمُسْلِمِينَ
A person should first complete his or her Waajib Qurbani and then make Nafl Qurbani for whoever he or she wishes, even for the Holy Prophet (peace be upon him).
