Welfare Projects

الَّذِينَ يُنْفِقُونَ أَمْوَالَهُمْ فِي سَبِيلِ اللَّهِ ثُمَّ لَا يُتْبِعُونَ مَا أَنْفَقُوا مَنًّا وَلَا أَذًى ۙ لَهُمْ أَجْرُهُمْ عِنْدَ رَبِّهِمْ وَلَا خَوْفٌ عَلَيْهِمْ وَلَا هُمْ يَحْزَنُونَ

Those who spend their wealth in the way of Allah and do not follow up their spending by stressing their benevolence and causing hurt, will find their reward secure with their Lord. They have no cause for fear and grief. [1] 2:262

• Narrated Hakim bin Hizam that the Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him) said: The upper hand is better than the lower hand (i.e. he who gives in charity is better than him who takes it). (Bukhari.)

• Safwan ibn Salim related that the Prophet said: Anyone who looks after and works for a widow and a poor person is like a warrior fighting for Allah?s cause, or like a person who fasts during the day and prays all night. (Bukhari)

It is in keeping with the Qur’anic and Prophetic teachings that the Islamic Lifestyle Solutions strives to remain enthusiastic when it comes to welfare and outreach projects. We have always tried to initiate ways of assisting the poor, needy and destitute. To date approximately R500 000 cash has been dispensed to deserving Zakaat Recipients in the last 5 years. R75 000 has been used on bursaries and business startups, and more than a 1000 grocery Zakaat hampers have been distributed. Insha Allah these numbers will grow by your generous support as our Zakaat initiatives are conducted on a monthly basis.

In addition to the annual Ramadhaan distribution as well as the monthly assistance to the 20-25 families who receive groceries every month, we have also initiated a monthly feeding scheme in various areas where freshly cooked hot meals are personally served to approximately 150- 170 poor and homeless people regardless of their religious or racial background (Meals prepared with Lillah funds). We have also helped many people with school fess, registration fees and stationery as well as people who requested assistance to upgrade from an informal residence to a well – structured home. The ILS has also focused on Social welfare where marital and other types of counseling are offered to troubled families providing them with solutions based on the expertise of the Ulama. There are still many cases and people who we would like to offer assistance to if we are able to expand our financial capacity to do so.

May Allah accept our efforts and the generous contributions of our donors who have placed their trust in our projects by investing their time, effort and wealth. May Allah reward them and their families. Ameen
