Are the Fadlaat (excrements, excretions) of the Holy Prophet (peace be upon him) pure or impure?
The Sahaabah, Aimmah, and erudite scholars believed that the Fadlaat of Rasoolullah (peace be upon him) were pure. There are several Ahaadeeth accepted by Ulama which chronicle this view. We present a few below,
- Hazrath Abdullah ibn Zubair (Allah be pleased with him) consumed the blessed blood of the Holy Prophet (peace be upon him) after he was instructed to dispose of it after cupping. He was then given glad-tidings by Rasoolullah (peace be upon him) of strength, courage and protection from the hell-fire.
- Hazrath Maalik ibn Sinaan (Allah be pleased with him), the father of Hazrath Abu Saeed Khudri (Allah be pleased with him), imbibed the blood of Rasoolullah (peace be upon him) from an injury he had sustained in the battle of Uhud. Effectively, the Holy Prophet (peace be upon him) announced, “One who wishes to see an inmate of Jannah should look at him (Maalik ibn Sinaan (Allah be pleased with him)).”
- The Sahaabiyah, Umme Aiman (Allah be pleased with her) consumed the urine of the Noble Messenger (peace be upon him) and he told her, “You will never suffer from any illness of the stomach.”
- When the Sahaabiyah, Barakah (Allah be pleased with her) did so, Rasoolullah (peace be upon him) told her, “You will always remain healthy.”

Concerning the Fadlaat being pure, Allamah Badruddeen Aini (Allah be pleased with him) states, “And my ears are deaf to those who say contrary to this.”

Allamah ibn Abideen Shaami (Allah be pleased with him) states,
صحح بعض أئمة الشافعية طهارة بوله صلي الله عليه و سلم و سائر فضلاته و به قال أبو حنيفة
“Some Aimmah of the Shaf’ee Mazhab have verified the purity of urine and other Fadlaat of Rasoolullah (peace be upon him) and this is the ruling of Imaam Abu Hanifa (Allah be pleased with him).”

When asked about the narration concerning the purity of the Fadlaat, a leading scholar of Darul Uloom Deoband, Shaikh Ashraf Ali Thaanwi writes,
“I have personally not critically researched this Hadith but if this is established, then Ulama have ruled the Fadlaat of Rasoolullah (peace be upon him) to be pure, Allamah Shaami (Allah be pleased with him) has researched this matter, therefore there remains no doubt (i.e. the Fadlaat are pure).”
