بِسْمِ ٱللّٰهِ ٱلرَّحْمٰنِ ٱلرَّحِيمِ
If one does a google search” on the finding of Firauns body, there are numerous websites explaining and depicting pictures of Firaun.
It is stated in Quraan that his body will be kept for people after him to see….
My question is the pictures that are depicted, are those legitimate pictures?
Are those the actual pictures of Firaun or have people used that image in despair?
All praise is due to Allah Ta Aala, Peace and salutations upon his Beloved Messenger (peace be upon him), His Blessed Family and Noble Companions (may Allah be pleased with them)
I have been on many of the internet sites which stake the claim of possessing the actual photographs of the Pharaoh of era Moses (peace be upon him) I have found that the more famous websites all have quite the similar photography on display. There does seem to be some legitimacy at hand. Let us analyze this query from the Islamic perspective in order for us to draw to a conclusion.
The summary of the incident regarding the reason why the Mummy in question has been identified as the Pharaoh of the age of Moses (peace be upon him) is as follows:
When Francisco Mitra became the President of France in 1981, he requested from the Egyptian government to host the mummy of Pharaoh for the purpose of running laboratory and archeological examinations on the mummy of the most notorious dictator ever lived on earth.
The scientists were headed by Professor Maurice Bucaille. These scientists were TRYING TO RESTORE the mummy while Professor Maurice headed an inquisition into the cause of its death. Further analysis proved that he was drowned due to salt content running down his throat and stomach. The Professor was told about the biblical story of the Pharaoh of the era of Moses (peace be upon him) and that it stated that he had drowned. He called for the Bible and found it to be true, but there was no mention of him ever being found. However he was also told about the drowning of the Pharaoh mentioned in the Qur’an. After studying the Qur’anic text, he was amazed that the Qur’an had mentioned the preservation of his body 1400 years ago. He later accepted Islam and has went on to author many books and articles such as, “the Qur’an, the Bible, and Modern Science”, etc.
Allah Ta’aala states:
‘This day shall We save (preserve) you in your body, that you may be a Sign to those who come after you! But verily, many among mankind are neglectful of Our Signs’
(Surah Yunus, Verse 92)
Allah Ta Aala commanded the sea to throw out the body of Pharaoh. The Egyptians had discovered the faculty of mummification and had preserved his body. Thus completing the will of Allah the All-Knowing.
(Tafseer Dhiya –ul-Qur’an, Peer Karam Sha Azhari)
The Holy Qur’an has mentioned both aspects in relation to the mummified body of the Pharaoh (Ramses the 2nd) which have been verified by the scientists present at the archeological examination in France:
- That he (Pharaoh) had drowned.
“And we took the Children of Israel and Firaun (Pharaoh) and his hosts followed them in oppression and enmity, till when drowning overtook him”
(Surah Yunus , Verse 90)
- Allah Ta Aala mentioned that his body will be preserved in the previous quoted verse (Surah Yunus, Verse 92).
The fact that both these factors are found indicates to the possibility of the pictures in question actually being the Pharaoh himself.
As a Muslim, it is inspirational to hear such incidents which make the authenticity of the Qur’an look stronger by the day. We can only pray that more and more scholars of the western world credit the Qur’an for the many scientific proofs it has explained some 1400 years ago without the intervention of technology.
Allah and His Rasool know best.
