بِسْمِ ٱللّٰهِ ٱلرَّحْمٰنِ ٱلرَّحِيمِ
Why does Allah every year create a new book for you as in what good deeds and bad deeds you are going to do for the next year…when Allah knows what you are going to do in that year. It does not make sense to me. I mean why do we have a diary set out for us when Allah already knows what we are going to do?
The wisdom behind the placing of what is famously known as a “The Book of Deeds” is quite simple to understand. Allah ta’aala in his infinite wisdom does possess the knowledge of everything. It isn’t a book recording future events, but a book where your deeds are entered in as they are committed (good and bad). Many people misunderstand the concept of the Book of Deeds. It is NOT a recording of one’s sins for Allah’s (ta’aala) knowledge, but it has been put in place for mankind’s record in the case of anyone objecting to his/her sin.
The concept of the Book of Deeds can be easily understood from the example below:
When a person is accused of committing a crime in the court of law, the accuser has to provide proof for this accusation. If the proof is found to be correct, then the accuser will be sentenced accordingly. So the Book of Deeds is exactly that. It is a sound proof for the actions committed by mankind in the case of any objections or denial which may be raised by the accused. This is why the Angels have been delegated this task as they cannot err and will provide accurate recordings.
