BRIEF BIOGRAPHY –Sayyidah Nafeesah was from the Ahle Bait of the Beloved Nabi صلي الله عليه و آله و سلم and she was celebrated amongst Aimma and Mashaaikh for her Taqwa (piety) and Ilm (knowledge).
Her father was the grandson of Imaam Hasan رضي الله عنه and he was appointed as the governor of Madina by the king of the time, Mansoor. After serving for five years, he was deposed and imprisoned but when Mahdi became the ruler, he released him from imprisonment and honoured him. He passed away in a place called Haajir at the age of 85 years old in 168 A.H.
After the passing of her father, Sayyidah Nafeesah moved to Egypt with her husband Shareef Ishaaq رضي الله عنهما. Her husband who was the son of Imaam Ja’far Saadiq رضي الله عنه passed away in the year 208 A.H. in the month of Ramadhaan.
While in Egypt, being a senior member of the Ahle Bait, throngs of scholars and Mashaaikh would frequent her Duroos (teaching) and to attain her spiritual blessings. The most notable of the Mashaaikh who did so was the eminent Faqih and Imaam, Hazrat Imaam Shaf’ee رضي الله عنه.
There are several documented as well as oral anecdotes of Imaam Shaf’ee’s respect and honour for her. One such is that Imaam Shaf’ee made a bequest that his Janaazah be brought before Sayyidah Nafeesah and she prays over it also رضي الله عنهما.
